I joined DA, and then forgot I joined DA. I think I joined initially because I kept seeing people's links to their DA site, and it looked like a very strange and mystical place full of art. After hacking into my own account, here I am!
I am a traditional artist, I consider myself an aboriginal Ojibwe or Woodlands artist. Following in the spirit of Norval Morriseau, I enjoy portraying the energy of animals and things like the sun and moon, and the shared energies between them. I also enjoy painting in an Asian art style, and because of DA and the wonderful people I've met on here, I've started to challenge myself, and strengthen my skills at painting & drawing people. I've also participated in a few contests for fun, and enjoy looking through the entries.
I really enjoy DA for the art community. When I explain it to my co-workers and friends, I tell them it's a little like Facebook, but for artists. I've met so many people from around the world that I otherwise never would have met, which is really cool. I also enjoy the spirit of faving, and I try to leave comments on as much artwork as I can - things like how the piece has made me feel, or pointing out neat little details that other people might have overlooked. Sometimes I'll ask a question, like where a photo was taken, which can lead to some fun and interesting conversations.
